Company founder Karen Swaim Swaim Biological Incorporated (SBI) is a small research and consulting firm which specializes in the amphibians and reptiles of the greater Bay Area. The principal and founder of the company, Karen Swaim, started working on projects surrounding the Alameda whipsnake nearly ten years ago. Today, Karen enjoys working side by side with a dedicated staff and the company has expanded to other herpetological special-status species including the California red-legged frog, foothill yellow-legged frog, giant garter snake, California legless lizard, San Francisco garter snake, and California tiger salamander. SBI's team of experienced investigators, biologists, business professionals, GIS specialists, innovators, and researchers is headquartered in Livermore, California.
